Federal Waterways and Shipping administration (WSV)
The Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) is a vital agency within Germany, responsible for the management and regulation of the country's extensive network of waterways and shipping routes. WSV focusses on ensuring safe and efficient waterborne transportation and plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade and transportation within Germany and beyond. Additionally, it places a significant emphasis on environmental enhancement, climate adaptation, and climate protection.
Within the project, WSV's main role is among others, implementing technical-biological bank protection measures, like living bush mattresses and wooden flow guides, thereby drawing from lessons learned from past projects. They will also develop an education and training program incorporating NbS concepts and work on directives and guidelines for standardized NbS application.
