Dundalk Institute of Technology
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is a prominent higher education institution in Ireland's North-East region. They are recognized for their environmental research through the Centre for Freshwater and Environmental Studies (CFES). CFES focuses on Lake and Catchment Management, Agri-environmental Research, and Water, Communities, and Development.
Within the project, DkIT collaborates with the National Federation of Group Water Schemes (NFGWS) and Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) to assess Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for source protection and flood mitigation in a rural Irish catchment area. They aim to quantify both tangible and intangible benefits of NbS, aiding policy development and mainstreaming. Moreover, DkIT contributes to module development based on their findings and ensures national and EU integration. Lastly, they leverage their experience to translate research into policy recommendations, aligning with relevant national and EU frameworks.
